Miami vs UConn game preview
The main storyline here is just how dominant UConn is. It ranks 1st in the overall Kenpom metric, with the offense sitting 3rd and defense 11th. Miami’s offense sits 5th with its defense ranking 104th. That not only explains why the total is so high, but tilts the scales heavily in favor of UConn.
Unfortunately, life isn’t that simple, especially as far as March Madness is concerned. Miami has made the Final Four for the first time in School history and has done so in spectacular fashion, knocking off both a #1 and #2 seed in Houston and Texas. The Canes fear nobody and with Jordan Miller playing at such an elite level, this team simply cannot be overlooked.
Miami is only giving up around 71 points per game which in itself is stunning given how wobbly its defense has been this season. Opponents are finding success from beyond the 3-point line, which is a worry against UConn, especially as far as Jordan Hawkins is concerned, but even so, Miami’s ability to win the rebounding battle has been the difference so far.
That could be the key tonight. Adama Sanogo is averaging 7.5 boards per contest, while Norchad Omier is picking up nearly 14 per matchup in the NCAA Tournament. This is the battle that could well dictate not just the tempo of the game, but the overall victor.

Miami vs UConn prediction
This total is absurdly high. Yes, these are two stellar offenses, but Miami’s D has proven itself worthy of holding up against the best the nation has to offer. With a place in the final on the line, I expect nerves, some aggressive 3-point attempts early, and a scrappy pace of play which could see this total drop to the low 140’s.
Betting pick: Total points under 147
