Game recap: AJ Brodeur leads Penn Quakers in overtime win vs Dartmouth

Philadelphia: We are only a couple weeks until conference tournaments begin and in the Ivy league only the top 4 make the tournament and that is what we had on Friday night as the Penn Quakers took on the Dartmouth Big Green from ” Cathedral of College Basketball” the Palestra on the Campus of University of Penn. The Quakers come into the game with 14-8, 2-4 in Ivy league and off a loss to Yale on February 9 while the Big Green head to Philly with 11-11, 2-4 in Ivy League and off a Columbia also on February 9.

The Quakers would score the games first 5 points before Dartmouth got on the board.  Penn took the 5-4 lead at the first media timeout, The Quakers would have a 6 point lead at 37-31 with 3:07 left then the Big Green would go on an 11-0 run to take a 42-37 lead at halftime. The Quakers would shoot 65% in the first half.

Dartmouth would jump on the Quakers early in the 2nd half for a 50-39 lead. The Quakers would cut into the lead and they would retake the lead at the 53-52 lead on a 3 pointer by Jake Slipe with 13:32 left. Both Penn & Dartmouth would make some clutch shots and play good defense. Penn would have a chance to win the game at the buzzer but they could not get it to drop as this game would head into overtime tied at 70

In the overtime, both teams would make things difficult. Penn AJ Brodeur had it going all game with some clutch shots and big blocks on defense.

The Final seconds in OT how Penn held on

A crowd of 2,170 would see the Penn Quakers grind out a win as they take down Dartmouth 82-79 in overtime. This was a game that Penn needed to keep their chance to get into the top four to make the Ivy League Tournament.

Penn now goes to 15-8, 3-4 in Ivy League and have to do a quick turnaround as they take on Harvard on February 16 at the Palestra. The Big Green now goes to 11-12, 2-5 in Ivy league and will try to get back to their winning ways as they take on Princeton also on February 16.
