SuperDraft Pick Eric Bird signs with Philadelphia Union


Philadelphia Union earlier today that the team has agreed to terms with young midfielder Eric Bird. Drafted as No. 41 in the 2015 MLS SuperDraft, Bird captained the University of Virginia team for two seasons and helped lead the Cavaliers to a national championship in 2014.

The twenty one year old was the second selection the Union made in this years SuperDraft. He was a two-time NSCAA All-American and a second-team selection in 2014 – leading the Cavaliers to the NCAA College Cup in both seasons before winning the trophy last year. He finished his career at the university with an impressive 15 goals and 10 assists.
