It’s officially game week and the Philadelphia Eagles’ road to redemption begins on September 10th when they take on the New England Patriots. Unfortunately, the sting of their Super Bowl loss is still lingering but it could be the necessary fuel needed to find their way back.

Here are five reasons why the Eagles will win the Super Bowl in 2024:

Offensive familiarity for the Eagles

The Eagles may have a new offensive coordinator but that shouldn’t be looked at as a setback for the offense. While this will be Brian Johnson’s first season calling plays from the sideline, people should be aware of his involvement with the offense last season. He was only the QB’s coach but he was heavily involved with the team’s game planning as well.

Nick Sirianni mentioned this about Brian Johnson back in February, “…Brian is also very gifted in the sense of helping be able to scheme, even though he wasn’t the offensive coordinator last year, he still helps a great deal with our schemes and the way we’re attacking defenses in the run game, in the pass game, in the protection world, in situationals.”

Let’s not forget that Johnson was also a big factor in Jalen Hurts’ journey so far. The familiarity with the two should be more evident this season. Johnson has been around Jalen Hurts since he was two years old and could be the best asset that the QB has in 2023.

The infusion of youth

There was a time when the Eagles valued veteran players more than the development of their young drafted players. That time is long gone and could be a huge benefit for the team this season. With veterans like Fletcher Cox, Brandon Graham, Jason Kelce, and Lane Johnson still around, the Eagles youth could play as a double-edged sword.

While the youth can spell the veterans at times and help them get rested while also staying sharp, they can also learn a ton from the Eagles’ core four.  Defensively, Cox and Graham have their hands full with the Georgia core along the defensive line but they should greatly benefit from the added rest of the rotation.

The experience

Going back to the core four, the experience from the Super Bowl 52 win as well as the failed season after should assist the current unit as they rebound. The Eagles struggled to get back to the Super Bowl after their big win. The hangover loomed greatly over the team’s success and their experience with that situation can help lead this roster. Although they made the playoffs the year after, the team struggled to find its way behind both Nick Foles and Carson Wentz.

Adding that experience to an already motivated roster could be what the doctor ordered. We know that it takes a village to raise a banner but now there is a mix of success and failure within the roster. While several vets know what it’s like to win, players like Haason Reddick and Jalen Hurts are fueled by the loss in hopes of satisfying their craving.

The offensive firepower

The Eagles may have a lot of moving parts on the defensive side this offseason but their offense only got better. They added D’Andre Swift, Rashaad Penny, Albert Okwuegbunam, and Olamide Zaccheaus. Swift adds a new wrinkle to their offense as a dual-threat running back while Penny will help wear down defenses.

Aside from those additions, the Eagles STILL have A.J. Brown, DeVonta Smith, and Dallas Goedert. Smith and Brown were both 1,000-yard receivers last season and Goedert is aspiring to be the third this season. With Jalen Hurts at the helm, the offense should be able to lead this team back to the Super Bowl while the defense finds its identity.

Jalen Hurts

This team has no shot to reach the Super Bowl unless Jalen Hurts is their QB. That’s just a simple fact. It doesn’t matter what the national media says, no other QB is built for this team like he is. The Eagles have surrounded him with the necessary firepower for him to take that next step in his career.

Jalen Hurts is set to sign one of the richest deals in NFL history, agreeing to a five-year, $255 million extension with the Philadelphia Eagles, including $179.3 million guaranteed, a person with knowledge of the situation told The Associated Press. The Eagles announced on Monday, April 17, “QB1 is here to stay,” but terms were not yet announced, according to the person who spoke to the AP on condition of anonymity because the deal was not yet final. It won’t matter if Hurts wins MVP or not, the goal is to win and he completely understands that. Hurts will catapult himself to the level of Patrick Mahomes this season which will end with a much-needed rematch.
