89 players currently sit on the Philadelphia Eagles roster a month before camp. By the time the 2023 NFL regular season begins, that number will be cut down to 53.

As the defending conference champions with over 3/4 of their starting roster returning, there are very few questions in regard to their roster that the Eagles will need to answer during camp. That doesn’t mean all 53 spots are locked up though.

Today, we break down those that are no-brainers to make the roster, those that are on the bubble, and those considered long-shots for the 2023 team.

Locks to make Jets 53-man roster (46):

Reed Blankenship, James Bradberry, Shaun Bradley, AJ Brown, Sydney Brown, Jalen Carter, Britain Covey, Fletcher Cox, Jordan Davis, Nakobe Dean, Landon Dickerson, Jack Driscoll, Terrell Edmunds, Jake Elliott, Kenneth Gainwell, Dallas Goedert, Brandon Graham, Jalen Hurts, Lane Johnson, Cam Jurgens, Jason Kelce, Rick Lovato, Avonte Maddox, Jordan Mailata, Marcus Mariota, Zech McPhearson, Nicholas Morrow, Moro Ojomo, Sua Opeta, Haason Reddick, Kelee Ringo, Boston Scott, Arryn Siposs, Darius Slay, DeVonta Smith, Nolan Smith, Tyler Steen, Jack Stoll, Josh Sweat, D’Andre Swift, Marlon Tuipulotu, Quez Watkins, Greedy Williams, Milton Williams, Olamide Zaccheaus

There aren’t many difficult decisions the Eagles have to make this year and for good reason. The Eagles return 9/11 starters on offense, and 6/11 on defense. With most of their defensive pieces young rookies and second-year returners, the team is expected to be perfectly fine with a new-look defense.

Of those questionable, Britain Covey appears to be ready for a second shot at the returner duties, while Nicholas Morrow, Moro Ojomo, and Marlon Tuippulotu are all players that have stood out during OTAs. They should be safe on the 53-man roster as long as they continue to play well.

Eagles Players on Roster Bubble (19):

Derek Barnett, Grant Calcaterra, Christian Elliss, Mario Goodrich, Tarron Jackson, Tyree Jackson, Josh Jobe, Patrick Johnson, Tanner McKee, Rashaad Penny, Charleston Rambo, Eli Ricks, Janarius Robinson, Josiah Scott, Trey Sermon, Kentavius Street, Davion Taylor, Brett Toth, K’Von Wallace, Ty Zentner

Ty Zentner needs to beat out Arryn Siposs and there’s no guarantee that happens this offseason. Outside of him, a lot of these bubble players are here because we aren’t sure if the Eagles will keep a large amount of their positions. Grant Calcaterra, Trey Sermon, Eli Ricks, Rashaad Penny and Josiah Scott could find themselves on the chopping block if the Eagles don’t feel they need their depth.

K’Von Wallace is here because the team could absolutely move to another safety if their starters don’t perform well during the preseason.

Long-shots to make Roster (24):

Devon Allen, Dan Arnold, Ian Book, Kennedy Brooks, Tyrie Cleveland, Noah Elliss, Justin Evans, Mekhi Garner, Julian Good-Jones, Jadon Haselwood, Fred Johnson, Kyron Johnson, Roderick Johnson, Dalton Keene, Matt Leo, Tristin McCollum, Joseph Ngata, Chim Okorafor, Trevor Reid, Tyrese Robinson, Brady Russell, Cameron Tom, Ben VanSumeren, Greg Ward

Outside of the Greg Wards, Dan Arnolds and offensive linemen, the fact that the Eagles have so many locks to make the team this year means the long-shots have a very difficult chance of being on the 53-man roster. Most of these guys will be trying out for other organizations to notice them once they are cut by the Eagles.
