The Super Bowl LIX  champions Philadelphia Eagles are expected to pay a visit to the White House on Monday, April 28, for the first time in the club’s history. Eagles’ Head Coach, Nick Sirianni has expressed his excitement about the visit, though he is set to bring all Super Bowl celebrations to a close as the Eagles prepare for their defense in the coming season.

Nick Sirianni excited for Eagles’ White House visit

The Eagles’ visit to the White House became a huge talking point after they defeated the Kansas City Chiefs 40-22 at Caesars SuperDome in New Orleans, Louisiana, on February 9, to clinch the Vince Lombardi for just the second time in their history. In an interesting twist,, the President of the United States was present at the Caesars SuperDome to witness their celebration.

Following their Super Bowl LIX win, there were rumors predicting the Eagles would snub the annual invitation from the White House after the events that followed their first Super Bowl win in 2018.

In the months leading to their first Super Bowl victory, the Eagles had several clashes with President Donald Trump, who was leading the United States in his first term in office, after he criticized NFL players taking a knee in honor of their campaign against racism, while the National Anthem was being played.

And once they emerged winners at Super LII, many of the players decided to snub the visit. In the end, the President also felt disrespected by their snub and withdrew his invite.

It’s his second term in office and things have largely changed from how they were seven years ago. Both parties are willing to make the visit happen, with the Eagles’ coach admitting he is “excited” about the visit.

“I’m really excited to go, yeah,” the 43-year-old said Tuesday, via OutKick. “What an honor. What an honor to be able to go to the White House. Teams that have been able to win championships have been doing that for a long time, and I’m really honored to go and really excited to go.”

While their visit to the White House has history written all over it, Sirianni feels that will be the last lap of their celebrations, as the team is set to prepare for the new season where they defend the Vince Lombardi Trophy and would be hoping for a third win come February next year.
