The World Baseball Classic is upon us and there feels like a new wave of excitement surrounding the event. Perhaps it’s because there hasn’t been a World Baseball Classic since 2017, or maybe it’s because of just how many high-profile players will be competing. Either way, there’s never been a better time to get in on the fun by betting on the prestigious tournament.

World Baseball Classic Odds: Dominican Republic lead the charge
Dominican Republic | +210 |
USA | +250 |
Japan | +275 |
Venezuela | +1000 |
Puerto Rico | +1100 |
Korea Republic | +1300 |
Cuba | +1600 |
Mexico | +1800 |
It’s no surprise to see the Dominican Republic head the odds here. With names like Juan Soto, Manny Machado, and Julio Rodriguez will do their best to negate the loss of Vladimir Gurrero Jr., but as you can imagine, they have all the tools to do it. Their bullpen features Cy Young winner Sandy Alcantara along with the experienced Johnny Cueto. If one thing is for sure, it’s that the Dominican Republic will be a force to be reckoned with.
The USA will feature plenty of familiar faces for Phillies fans, including both J.T Realmuto and Kyle Schwarber, along with the newly-signed Trea Turner. They don’t have the pitching prowess of the Dominican Republic, and one could argue that Japan is the more complete team here. But with so much firepower in the lineup, you can never really count the USA out.
Shohei Ohtani and Yu Darvish are the stars of the show here and that goes without saying. Don’t overlook reigning NPB MVP Munetaka Murakami. There is a reason why Japan is priced so low and it’s because not only do they feature some of the best talents on the planet, but they consistently impress on the WBC stage. If you’re looking for a team that is cheaper than the top dogs, Japan is a side that many will argue should be the leading favorites.
If you do want to look for some value, Puerto Rico is +1100 to win the World Baseball Classic and has finished in 2nd place in two consecutive tries. Something has to be said for their ability to spring a surprise and in a competition where underdogs can often prevail, perhaps this is the time to bet behind them since third time’s the charm.
