2021 Three-star point guard Hysier Miller plays for Neumann Goretti in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and is committed to Temple University. He is the ninth-ranked prospect in the state, 41st ranked point guard in the nation, and 268th ranked prospect in the 2021 basketball class by 24/7 composite rankings. I talked to him about his recruitment and more.

Leader: First off, I wanna ask how are you doing during this time?

Hysier: I’m doing well staying in shape. Using my time well.

Leader: How have you been able to work on your game?

Hysier: I’ve been getting in the gym as much as possible. So when I’m able to work out I give it 110 percent.

Leader: What made you commit to Temple?

Hysier: The vibe when talking to the coaches and getting to know them. The whole staff and program made it feel like home to me.

Leader: How do you feel about Coach Aaron Mckie?

Hysier: Coach Mckie is great. We have a great relationship. We actually were just on the phone before i talked to you. He always gives me great advice and tells me to look at the positive side of things.

Leader: Zach Hicks committed to Temple. You and he have a Jersey-Philly connection. Have you had time to talk and build a bond with him?

Hysier: We played together at Many events. Of course with the pandemic, we haven’t been able to work as much. But, when we get a chance, we put work in.

Leader: Is there any other prospect you are recruiting to Temple?

Hysier: Javon Adams (2022 prospect), I try to get the coaches to recruit him. I’m always saying his name. I feel like we are similar in that we’re both underlooked. I feel he can fit at Temple. He is a player I would like to play with in the future.

Leader: Coach Mckie has the team playing tough like the old John Chaney teams. Rest in Peace to the great coach Chaney. When Temple is at its best they have a good point guard. Like when they had Rick Brunson along with so many others. You’re the top-ranked recruit in this Temple class. What do you bring to Temple?

Hysier: I bring toughness, Leadership, a dog mentality, I’m an overall team player. I bring a winning attitude, a winning grind. I wanna make others around me better.

Leader: Have you had a chance to talk to any of the current players?

Hysier: Yea we talk but we don’t really talk too much basketball, they just tell me to keep working. One of the guys I talk to is Jahlil White.

Leader: What teams were recruiting you hard before you committed?

Hysier: Penn State, Penn a couple of other schools but Temple was my top school.

Leader: What makes Neumann Goretti produce good players?

Hysier: They teach you how to play the right way always. Always play defense the right way. Never just think about yourself.

Leader: What is Neumann Goretti going to bring this season?

Hysier: We’re going to play great defense and offense and make it hard for teams that play us.

Leader: What are you looking to show Temple this season playing for Neumann Goretti?

Hysier: I’m going to show them I’m a leader and I’m willing to do what it takes to win.

Leader: Congratulations on your commitment to Temple. Stay safe and keep working. Looking forward to seeing you in the future.

Hysier: Thank you.
