According to Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer, Eagles right tackle Lane Johnson has been suspended. The report came earlier today, confirming the ten game suspension that has been looming since the start of the season.

After missing the first four games of 2014 due to the same reason, Johnson now faces a ten game suspension..although he is appealing.

The appeal hearing is scheduled for Oct. 4 and shortly thereafter a neutral arbitrator will render a decision. Johnson will play on Sunday against the Steelers. The Eagles have a bye the following week.

Because the appeal takes place after the Eagles week 3 rivalry game with the Steelers, Johnson will at least be able to play one more game before going into the bye week and learning his fate.

Doug Pederson revealed in a press conference earlier this week that it would be Allen Barbre who would take the right tackle reins, with backup center Stefen Wisniewski moving over to LG to replace Barbre.

Whether Johnson’s appeal, that’s based on the premise of taking a substance he thought was approved by the NFLPA, holds up or no is another issue..but the intent to appeal was clear since the news first arose with Johnson standing his ground and taking shots at the way it’s been handled..which does hold some hope.
