Just as you think there can’t possibly be any more news or speculation in a busy day, we’re surprised yet again. With news of Ryan Day joining Chip Kelly in San Francisco, a lot of discussions began to take place regarding who his replacement would be. Would it be Shurmur? Perhaps someone new..well, we may have our answer.
Eagles will hire former Browns OC John DeFilippo as QB coach, sources tell me and @PSchrags. From Manziel to Bradford (maybe).

DeFilippo worked with the Jets and the Raiders in this position before a short hiatus from the NFL. He returned to his former position at Oakland in 2012 before being hired last year as the Offensive Coordinator for the Browns. This off-season however he has already caught the attention of various NFL teams, with the newly renamed LA Rams already requesting to interview him in the first few days of January.
DeFilippo has worked with a young Derek Carr to help mould him through his rookie year..and look how he’s turning out! Most notably, DeFilippo has spent time with a troubled Browns Offense, turning it into a respectable one. Whilst having to deal with the Manziel fiascos, McCown was set to enjoy a career year this season whilst Tight End Gary Barnidge also enjoyed a monster season. The Browns Offense ranked 25th overall this season but it’s not like the unit is built with stars..in fact, DeFilippo has done very well to take the patchy Offense he inherited and make things happen by working with the talent and personnel they have…it should be of coincidence that Doug Pederson was talking about that very same quality in his press conference earlier today.
With Jim Schwartz officially unveiled as the teams Defensive Coordinator earlier today, it would hardly be surprising to see the Eagles lock up all of their coaching positions within the next few days.
