Eagles could have nine picks but still struggle in upcoming NFL Draft

20151019-Sam-Bradford

The Eagles season come to a disappointing end on Saturday night and with it the speculation about where the team go from here. It was basic instinct for most fans to begin thinking about the draft…but even that isn’t looking too pretty due to how late the picks are.

First round:
Luckily, the Eagles first round pick is all theirs..but currently they sit outside the top 10 projected order in 12th. With a loss to the Giants and a win from teams such as Tampa and New Orleans, the Eagles could potentially move up to around a number 7 pick..between 11-8 would be a realistic expectation as this largely depends on the results of other games. One of those teams are also the Giants…..

Second round:
The Eagles traded their second round pick away to the Rams in the trade for Sam Bradford so unless there are trades to be made this off-season, it’s not looking good.

Third round:
The Eagles own both their third round pick and that of the Lions which they acquired during a trade last season. The Eagles could have also had the Rams third round pick if Bradford didn’t play a single snap all season but evidently that went out the window on the very first drive of the opening game.

Fourth round:
Again, the birds have the right to their own fourth round pick and again could have had the rights to the Rams. If Bradford played in less than 50% of the teams snaps this season, the Rams would have dealt the Eagles their fourth rounder.

Fifth round:
Philadelphia has its own fifth round pick and surprisingly  could hold that of the Steelers. The condition was that if Brandon Boykin didn’t play at least 60% of snaps this season then the Eagles are entitled to the Steelers fifth round pick..he played in 15.9% of defensive snaps and 45.3% on special teams..so depending on the terms and conditions the Eagles could have two fifth round picks.

Sixth round:
No shocks or surprises here, just a regular Eagles sixth round pick.

Seventh round:
The Eagles own both their own pick and the Cardinals seventh round pick due to Matt Barkley still remaining on the 53-man roster through week 6 of this season.
