It appears that relieving Nick Sakiewicz may have only been the tip of the iceberg in moves for the Union. According to the MFC Podcast (A podcast for Motherwell FC), their former striker James McFadden has actually flown out to Philadelphia for a two week trial at the club.

The 32 year old last played for St. Johnstone in the Scottish Premier League but has been training with Motherwell since September. Last year he played in 16 games and scoring once. After starting his career with Motherwell in early 2000, McFadden was picked up by Premier League side Everton. He spent five years at the merseyside team before playing for numerous top tier sides around the country and eventually returning to the club that started it all.
Whilst not a prolific goalscorer, McFadden would certainly add some depth at the striker position for Union and comes with a wealth of experience. Oh..and who could forget this blinder?!
