Cliff Lee’s future hangs in the balance

Both the Phillies and Cliff Lee are stuck between a rock and a hard place.ich Surgery would keep Cliff Lee out for the entire 2015 season he could once again try rehabilitation, which has failed twice already. The Phillies placed Lee on the 60-day disabled list to give them time to come to a decision, planning to send the pitcher home from Spring Training.

There is now a huge hole in his starting rotation, the last thing a team who’s already struggling needs with opening day just three weeks away. Amaro said the Phillies will attempt replace Cliff Lee from within the organization. Miguel Alfredo Gonzalez, Joely Rodriguez, Paul Clemens and Kevin Slowey could all be potential candidates.

After a disappointing year last season where Lee was limited to just 13 starts because of an elbow injury, things are certainly not boding well for the pitcher. Prior to the injury, Lee was seen as one of the Phillies’ most important assets when it came to trading. He is now almost impossible to move.
