DeMarco Murray stings Cowboys fans as he joins Eagles, but is this all part of a plan?

We reported that back on Monday that this would be the ultimate steal in Free Agency and despite most people claiming that the Eagles are uninterested, it’s happened. Top rusher of last year DeMarco Murray is now a Philadelphia Eagle.

Murray will sign a contract for five years with more than $20 million guaranteed, reports Ian Rapoport.

This does bring up the question of what this means to Ryan Mathews’ status with the Eagles. Mathews agreed to a three-year deal on Wednesday but is yet to sign a contract with Philadelphia. It wouldn’t surprise me to see him back out and potentially turn his attention to Oakland or the Buccs. With Bradford and Matthews both joining Philly, both RB and QB positions are more than just hotly contested. He may even be used as draft bait alongside Barkley or even Bradford in the forever speculated quest for Mariota that has seemingly come to a halt..or so we think. Four running backs and four Quarterbacks are what stands at the Linc currently. Expect movement here, it’s just a case of whether the movement is for more defensive players or draft picks.

Murray was the 2014 NFL Offensive Player of the Year and finished with a career high 1845 yards and 13 touchdowns. Now he’ll be making the lives of defenses league wide hell under the reign of Chip Kelly as Murray goes out for revenge against his former club.
