Cowboys vs Packers: NFL Wild Card Betting preview
The Green Bay Packers stroll into the playoffs on the back of a 3-game win streak to end the regular season. The second half of the season has been a joyous affair for Cheeseheads, who watched their team rally to wins over the Lions and Chiefs among others. Confidence is high and the team is playing well as a cohesive unit.
As for the Cowboys, things haven’t been as simplistic. After losing to the Bills and Dolphins, they merely crept over the line against the Lions due to some ‘zebra controversy’, and then won a ‘gimmie’ against the Commanders. If there is ever a time for the Packers to spring a surprise, it’s now.
Why the Cowboys can win
Leading the Cowboys will be Dak Prescott, who has enjoyed a thunderous season overall. A TD/INT ratio of 36/9, a 69.5% completion rate, and 4,516 Yards sum up what has been Dak’s most accomplished season yet. The Green Bay pass defense ranks 9th in the NFL, sho should be able to stifle him to some degree, but it’s their 28th ranked run defense that might allow most of the bleeding.
The Cowboys rank 14th in rushing yards per game and are led by Tony Pollard, who snuck over the 1,000-yard mark as the clock hit zero on the regular season. If Dallas can dictate the tempo and run the rock against Green Bay, it will be hard for Jordan Love and company to keep pace in a game like Cowboys vs Packers.
Why the Packers can win
There’s a sense of needing to prove that this is no fluke with this team. Aaron Jones totaled 358 yards over the final 3 weeks and, like Pollard, is bound to be a factor on Sunday. The Packers are a youthful team that matches up well on paper with Dallas. If Jordan Love can protect the ball like he has over the last month, and the Packers can tire out the Dallas defense, they absolutely have a shot.
The Cowboys are riding a 16-game streak of being undefeated at home and the Packers have wildly overachieved this year. (Limited) playoff experience prevails here, and Dallas maintains their dominance at home despite a spirited effort from Green Bay.
