NFL MVP Odds: How does Jalen Hurts rank after Cowboys loss?
The Philadelphia Eagles are 10-3 after another disappointing loss. The Dallas Cowboys humbled the Birds with a 33-13 romp at home, leaving Jalen Hurts and his teammates with a lot of reflecting to do.
What has that done to the NFL MVP Odds? You’ll be surprised…
Jalen Hurts is +125 to win NFL MVP in 2023
Jalen Hurts started the season at around the +1100 mark when it came to the MVP Odds race. 13 games into the season, he’s now +650. He was +125 two weeks ago, but losses to Brock Purdy and Dak Prescott have significantly tilted the scales in favor of the other two quarterbacks.
With big wins over the Dolphins, Chiefs, and Bills on his resume this season, Jalen Hurts has proven his value on a regular basis. However, an inability to beat the other two most prominent quarterbacks in the conference has resulted in a huge shift in his NFL MVP odds.
The Eagles are over the worst of their schedule now. They face the Seahawks this week before a pair of clashes against the Giants and a game against the lowly Cardinals. There is every chance that Hurts can guide his team to a repeat NFC East title, but will it be enough to win the MVP award?
We knew that a clash between Dak Prescott and Jalen Hurts would significantly tilt the scales, but we didn’t know just how much they would move. It feels like this has become a wide-open race, with Brock Purdy and Dak Prescott heading the charge. Without another big game for Hurts to cement his value, an MVP win would take some serious leg-work.
Not all hope is lost
Jalen Hurts also pushed A.J Brown into the history books this season, with the young wideout becoming the first in NFL history to have 6 consecutive games with at least 120 receiving yards in a single season.
Jalen Hurts also holds the current NFL record for most wins in a row when his team is down by 10+ points. The record? 8.
If you’re looking to bet on Jalen Hurts to win the MVP award, now might be a good time for that very reason. If a loss to the Cowboys sky-rocketed his odds, it means we now get a much more attractive price. Hurts went from +1000 to +650 in a seven-day span last year upon his return from a shoulder injury and it would be fair to say that the MVP race would’ve been tighter had he played an entire year.
But while the world still sleeps on Jalen Hurts winning the NFL MVP award, you have the opportunity to cash in and make some money.
