Broncos
As if things weren’t bad enough for Denver, they are inundated with injury setbacks. D.J Jones and Frank Clark are OUT which is a big blow for an already struggling defense, while S Justin Simmons was limited in the early-week practices. As if the Chiefs offense wasn’t scary enough, Denver is missing key components on defense.
Javonte Williams should be rejoining the Broncos after missing week 5’s loss to the Jets, but it remains to be seen how much of an impact he’ll have.

As for Kansas City, the main concern is Travis Kelce, who suffered a scary ankle injury in Sunday’s win over the Vikings. He battled through it and even scored a touchdown, but has been limited in practice this week.
Given the level of competition, the Chiefs might deep it appropriate to sit Kelce. However, he has been targeted 37 times already this season and as we’ve already seen, the offense looks eerily different without his presence. At least the Taylor Swift saga would stop for a day or two…
There is some bad news for the Broncos, however. LB Nick Bolton, who has been out since week 2, looks set to make a return. He finished 2nd in the NFL in tackles last year and would immediately negate the return of Javonte Williams.

If you’re a Kansas City fan, you have to be licking your lips. The Broncos limp into this matchup with the worst-ranked run defense and 29th-ranked pass defense. They face a potent Kansas City offense that’s getting better by the week now that Travis Kelce has returned.
On the flip side of things, Denver have two middling offensive units and a quarterback in Russell Wilson who, in fairness, has been clinical over the past 2 weeks, tossing 5 touchdowns, 0 interceptions, and 419 yards. That won’t be enough to win a shootout with the Chiefs, but if you’re looking for a back door cover on the spread, you never know…

League-worst run defense? Check. A 3-game touchdown scoring streak? Check. 15+ carries per game in that span? Check. The second-year running back feels like one of the must-bet options this week, especially if Travis Kelce is limited (or out).
Jerry Jeudy
Courtland Sutton has been the man dominating targets in Denver, but Jeudy is the one to watch. He has 6 receptions during Sunday’s loss and had 5 against the Dolphins. He has the potential to command attention from Russell Wilson and there is every chance that Russ will be throwing from behind for the majority of the game.
Sutton has scored 3 times this season, but only has 40 yards in his last 2 games. Ride the hotter hand.
Patrick Mahomes
This feels obvious, but he’s facing one of the worst defenses in the entire league and is coming off of a great outing against Minnesota where he completed over 70% of his passes for 281 yards and 2 scores. He should have an even easier day at the office on Thursday in front of his home fans and looks set to tear the wounded Broncos to shreds.

It might be easy to say that the Chiefs are the superior team, but the defense has given up 30+ points in consecutive weeks. The Broncos have yielded 30+ three times this season and could be about to hit the panic button. Things aren’t likely to turn around here. It’s a tall number, but one I’m happy to swallow.
