The 2023 MLB season is well underway and things aren’t too sunny in Philadelphia. Bryce Harper’s long-awaited return hasn’t been enough to make up for other glaring weaknesses on the 2023 Phillies team, but it’s not too late for a playoff run to be ignited. Last year highlighted just how quickly things can change, but how does Vegas view the Phillies as we pass the 50-game mark?
Phillies are still longshots to win the World Series
MLB World Series Odds: Phillies are underdogs at +2800
A sluggish start to the 2023 campaign has resulted in a huge spike in Worlds Series futures prices. The Phillies were +1500 during the offseason and are now +2800. However, there are reasons to be optimistic.
The team is now 25-27 going into Sunday and are only 6 games behind the Atlanta Braves after winning two of the opening three games in their series. That’s a huge swing in momentum and something the team can build on with so much meat left on the bone this season.
Right now it’s probably better to just have a flutter and place $5-$10 on this outcome rather than any kind of substantial wager. But if you just can’t get enough of ‘Dancing on my own’, then I guess your mind may have already been made up.
