The Philadelphia Phillies dropped a sloppy series opener to the Rockies before rebounding with back-to-back wins to advance to 11-12 on the season. They now host the 10-12 Seattle Mariners at Citizens Bank Park and will be looking for their third win in a row.

Pitching matchup

Taijuan Walker (2-1, 3.28 ERA), Logan Gilbert (1-1, 3.57 ERA)

Taijuan Walker will take to the mound today on the back of two consecutive wins where he’s pitched at-least six innings. His most recent was a victory over the White Sox where he pitched a season-low 3.80 ERA. The Mariners proved on Tuesday that although their offense is inefficient, it can still score if afforded the opportunity. Walker will need to be at his best to keep the damage to a manageable minimum for the bullpen.

Logan Gilbert was supposed to start in Tuesday’s game, but his start was delayed 24 hours due to muscle spasms. Seattle sent out Marco Gonzales in his place and it proved to be a beneficial decision for them, with the Mariners gliding past the Phils in a 5-3 win where the starter only surrendered one run.

Gilbert will be hoping for more than his last start which saw him give up 5 hits and 4 runs against the Brewers. Especially considering he isn’t 100%, this could prove to be a challenge against a star-studded Phils offense that can turn it on at any given moment. He has surrendered at least 4 hits in each of his starts this season and although he’s clearly doing something right, his minor setback partnered with the opposing bats could prove problematic on Wednesday.

Mariners vs Phillies Betting preview

The advantage here certainly lies with Philadelphia from a value perspective. As slight underdogs, the Phils are 1-0 at home this season. They’re also 6-5 at home overall and 3-1 when Taijuan Walker starts.

We successfully tipped Edmundo Sosa to score a run at +190 last night and will be looking to the Phils offense for some more value today. I like J.T Realumto to record a hit in tonight’s game. He recorded one last night, and has had success against Seattle recently, finding bases against both Chris Flexen and Marco Gonzales and that run should continue here.

From Seattle’s standpoint, they don’t give up many home runs, ranking 4th in the entire MLB in that category. I’ll happily take Logan Gilbert to record under 3 runs at -115 here to correlate with that metric.

Mariners vs Phillies betting picks

J.T Realmuto to score a run: +190
Logan Gilbert under 3 runs allowed: -115
Phillies to win outright: +100
