The Masters is here and what a tournament it promises to be. With the inclusion of golfers from the LIV field, this weekend has the potential to be one for the ages. From a betting perspective, there is a lot to sink our teeth into and there is always the opportunity for a surprise. Danny Willett was 66/1 when he won his Gold Jacket in 2016. Could this be another year where a huge underdog wins? We’ve found five deep-value picks who could be worth a flutter this weekend.

Mito Pereira

To win: +8000
Top-5: +1400
Top-10: +450

I don’t like starting this off with a LIV golfer and there are plenty of reasons to fade them going into this week, but I think Mito is a gem being covered in muck. His most prominent PGA Tour moment was him choking his first-ever tour win in tragic fashion and it didn’t take long for him to defer to LIV after that. But a lot has changed since then.

While LIV is often seen as a league that lacks elite golfers and strong scoring, Mito is yet to finish outside the top-20 this year. He came 4th at the Shriners in the end in 2022 and 45th at the ZOZO before ultimately taking his talents elsewhere.

He leads this entire field in GIR% and is second only to Rory in driving distance. The putter is a concern and more than anything, the maturity to stay calm in the moment. I don’t think he’s a winning candidate, but at +450 for a top-10 finish, I’ll take my chances.

Shane Lowry

To win: +5500
Top-5: +1000
Top-10: +400

If you’re looking for a mid-tier player who has the upside to win this thing, look no further. Shane Lowry started out the 2023 season red-hot and comes into Augusta on the back of a 3rd place finish at The Masters in 2022 and two top-25’s before that.

We’re yet to see the best of the crafty approach player this year and if he can find a rhythm with the putter, this could be the perfect spot for the breakout that’s always just over the hill.

Colin Morikawa

To win: +2800
Top-5: +500
Top-10: +220

You’re getting one of the best ball-strikers on the planet at 28/1. He’s not in the bargain bin, but this price is absolutely a bargain, hence his presence in this article.

Morikawa has made 3 consecutive cuts at The Masters and rallied to a memorable 5th place finish last year. He’s playing brilliantly coming into this year’s tournament and this is a player who ranks at the very top in both accuracy and GIR%. He has experience and success here and the moment shouldn’t be too big for him.

Will Zalatoris

To win: +4500
Top-5: +750
Top-10: +320

I love Will Zalatoris. I love the fact that he somehow finds a way to always thrive in these high-pressure situations and after a couple of years of near misses in Majors, he finally won his first PGA tour event in 2022.

Since then, the waters have been murky. A back problem has set back the former PGA Tour rookie of the year and he’s struggled to get back to his best after changing his swing. With that said, when he’s firing on all cylinders, there are few who can strike the ball as well as he can and I’d like to think his consistent efforts at Augusta are at least worth a nod at inflated odds.

Hideki Matsuyama

To win: +4500
Top-5: +750
Top-10: +320

It’s been a bumpy year or so for the former Masters champion, but this is a player who is clearly trending in the right direction. It’s hard to predict exactly when Hideki is going to heat up and he flashed that very trait at the Valero Texas Open last weekend. He’s had 3 strong finishes in a row and has only finished outside the top-20 ONCE in his last 4 tries at The Masters.

Coming into The Masters, Hideki is gaining off the tee, and around the greens, you’ll struggle to find people who can strike the ball with the finesse he does when he’s red hot. He’s been here before, he’s won here before, and he has the chance to do it agaon.
