The season’s first two games have been an utter trainwreck for the Philadelphia Phillies.

After losing 11-7 on Opening Day, fans hoped the team would brush off the loss and return to the groove of things on Saturday. That would not be the case, as the Phillies were routed 16-3 in a really ugly performance against the Rangers. While the home plate officiating was one of the worst performances for a professional MLB umpire I have seen in a long time, you simply cannot blame an umpire for a loss.

The Phillies will now roll into Sunday Night Baseball looking for their first win of 2023. Sending Bailey Falter to the mound against 2022 All-Star Martin Perez. The Phillies will have their work cut out for them in this one, but it is time for them to get to work in Texas.

Phillies Moneyline

For the first time in this series, the Phillies are the underdogs. They are getting a run and a half from the books tonight, but I like the Phils’ money line in this matchup.

Despite two really bad games, the Phillies are still a really good team. You can blame officiating, the pitch clock, or just not being ready for the last two games, but at the end of the day, this team will win a game eventually. If the Phils play a clean brand of baseball tonight, I expect them to get the job done.

It is really hard to sweep a team in professional baseball. This Rangers team has been able to cakewalk for the last few days, so they aren’t necessarily battle-tested. They have a new manager and new players, and they are feeling themselves heading into this series finale.

The Phillies haven’t beaten the Rangers since 2014. I think it’s time to end that streak.

Taking the Phillies’ ML at +108 is a solid bet. Throwing $10.00 on this prop pays out $10.80 in profit, doubling your investment. Besides, it would feel great to win your bet and watch the Phils get their first of 2023.

Kyle Schwarber To Record a Hit

Kyle Schwarber has gotten off to a really slow start through two games. Schwarbs is 0-9 at the plate, despite getting the ball fairly solid.

Schwarber is not a player who is going to be down for long. He is always one swing away from changing a game and from coming out of a cold streak. Taking a Schwarber hit feels like a safe bet in this one.

The odds of Kyle getting a knock in this one sits at -230. A $10 bet pays out $4.55 in profit.

Kyle Schwarber To Hit a Home Run

If you wanted to take Kyle Schwarber getting a hit to the next level, take the All-Star to hit a home run in tonight’s game.

Kyle hit 10 home runs last season of left-handed pitching. Martin Perez, the Texas starter, is a lefty. While he won’t pitch the whole game, I still have faith in Schwarbs to have good at-bats against the Texas pitching staff.

The odds for a Schwarbomb sit at +400. A $10 bet will pay out $40 in profit. Schwarber won’t stay cold for long, and tonight can be the night for the left fielder to cash in for himself and your bet.

Bailey Falter 4+ Strikeouts

One of these days the Phillies will have a starting pitcher that doesn’t get into early trouble. Yesterday Zack Wheeler struck out 7 batters in his 4.1 innings of work, and I would hope that Falter can get through at least 5 in this one.

The Phillies have taxed their bullpen to start the year. Allowing Falter to get deeper into this game will not only benefit the team but can benefit this bet. Falter averaged 7.9 strikeouts per 9 innings in 2022. In his last two starts of the year (that went longer than an inning), he struck out 6 batters in each game.

If Bailey Falter can complete at least 5 innings tonight, 4 strikeouts will be a breeze for the young lefty, who is still trying to carve out his spot in the Phillies rotation.

At -225 odds, a $10 bet pays out $4.44 in profit.

Parlay Odds

If you are feeling confident in my picks and are looking for a parlay, then here we go. All of my picks for tonight’s game are able to be parlayed and can net you a nice profit tonight.

Phillies ML+108
Kyle Schwarber Home Run+400
Bailey Falter 4+ Strikeouts-225
Total Odds+937

If you take the Phillies to win, a Kyle Schwarber home run, Falter to strikeout at least four batters, you can net a parlay of +994 odds.

A $10 bet would pay out $93.70 in profit and can help recover some losses from the last couple of games.
