Giants vs Yankees: Best bets for MLB Opening Day 2023

Giants vs yankees
ARLINGTON, TX – OCTOBER 04: New York Yankees center fielder Aaron Judge (99) watches his 62nd home run to beat the Roger Maris home run record during the game between the Texas Rangers and the New York Yankees on October 4, 2022 at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas. The New York Yankees host the San Francisco Giants in a series at home in the Bronx, and there are plenty of bets that I absolutely love in this matchup.

Welcome to the best day of the year, Opening Day. While fans are anxiously waiting to see their favorite clubs’ first iteration, bettors like us are looking for the best ways to make some money. The good news is that you’re in the right place for some great tips.

Anthony Volpe to Record a Hit

One of the best parts of Opening Day is watching rookies make their big league debut. The Yankees are starting shortstop Anthony Volpe, a 21-year-old North Jersey native who grew up loving the team.

The kid from Watchung will be of the youngest players to make his Major League Baseball in Yankees history. He will follow in the footsteps of his idol Derek Jeter, who debuted at the age of 20 for the Yankees back in 1995.

One of the best things to root for in baseball is for a player to get his first career hit. Volpe lit up Spring Training, slashing .309/.415/.618/1.033 with 17 hits in 19 games. The kid constantly put the ball in play, and in his first game at Yankee Stadium, he’s going to continue this trend.

Anthony Volpe is currently a -145 to get a hit in this game. I am all over this bet and think it’s certainly a lock. A $10 bet pays out $6.90 in profit.

Yankees to Win

I think the Yankees are going to win this game over the Giants outright.

The Yankees are coming off a trip to the ALCS and were the best team in baseball for a better part of 2022. The Yanks are at home, playing in front of a sell-out crowd, with Gerritt Cole on the bump.

The Giants are sending Logan Webb to the mound, and he is quite a good pitcher in his own right. While this game is likely to be fairly low scoring, the Yankees lineup is far better than the San Francisco bunch.

While many have the Yankees winning the AL East and American League, and some even have them winning the World Series, I am simply going to have them start their season off on the right foot.

Yankees ML is currently -184. A $10 bet pays out $5.43 in profit.

Joc Pederson hits a Home Run

While I am big on the Yankees winning this game, the Giants are going to score.

Yankee Stadium is synonymous with its short porch in right field. This ballpark is a home run paradise for left-handed hitters. Joc Pederson would hit 50 home runs a year if he played half his games in the Bronx.

Joc is currently listed at +470 to hit a home run on Opening Day. A $10 bet pays out $47.00 in profit.

Parlay Action

If you like all three of those bets, throw them in a parlay!

FanDuel is currently offering a No Sweat MLB parlay bet for Opening Day. These three props put together would meet the requirements for parlay protection.

If you were to parlay these three props, you can get +1823 odds. Throwing $10 on this bad boy will pay out a profit of $182.30.

What is a better way to start the MLB season than an extra 180 bucks in your pocket?
