Super Bowl LVII prop watch

The Philadelphia Eagles cemented their spot in Super Bowl LVII with a huge win over the San Francisco 49ers. The Kansas City Chiefs soon followed with a nail-biting win over the Bengals, setting us up for a classic. Although the game is two weeks away, some interesting prop markets opened up on Monday morning.

Coin Toss

Heads/Tails: +100
Team to win the coin toss (Eagles/Chiefs): +100

Not much analysis is needed here. You can bet on whether the coin toss lands on heads or tails. I think there should be an option for how many flips it does on the way down, just to really spice things up before kickoff.

I wonder if you could parlay the Eagles to win the toss and coin to land on tails. I need another cup of coffee.

Jersey number of opening/final touchdown scorers

Over/Under 11.5: +100

I actually love this bet. Normally I wouldn’t touch this kind of thing, but since the new rule that allows offensive players to wear single-digit numbers was introduced, there’s almost an element of strategy here.

For instance, both A.J Brown and DeVonta Smith would be under 11, as would Jalen Hurts. Meanwhile, Dallas Goedert, Miles Sanders, and Quez Watkins would be over. I’d personally like backing Hurts to score the opener on a QB sneak, so under 11.5 for me!

Coaches challenge

First team to make a coaches challenge: Chiefs (-120) | Eagles (+110)
Will the first challenge be successful? Yes (-135) | No (+110)

I’d like to think a coach’s challenge would be successful because the reason for the flag being thrown is that they believe the ruling on the field is wrong and would obviously change with a second look. It’s not the riskiest bet in the world, but I do like that first challenge being overturned.

Will there be an Ocotpus?

Yes: +1400 | No -10000

No, we don’t mean one of those viral videos where an Animal predicts the winner of the Super Bowl, and no, Rhianna does not have a special marine guest for her halftime show (that I know of). An octopus in Football terms is a successful touchdown followed by a successful 2-point conversion.

The Philly special is perhaps the most infamous example of this and at the odds of nearly 15/1, it’s absolutely worth a low-risk punt. A $5 bet on this would return nearly $80!

Kick to hit the upright?

Yes (+450) | No (-650)

It’s unlikely and I don’t think the risk is worth the reward here. Also, State Farm Stadium is a dome, which makes it even harder to miss kicks as there is reduced wind interference.
