The Philadelphia Eagles ripped through an injury-plagued San Francisco 49ers side like a hot knife through butter on Sunday evening, while the Kansas City Chiefs did what was needed to fend off Joe Burrow and the Bengals. It might not have been how either team drew it up, with injuries dominating both games, but it was enough. What’s a little surprising is that the Eagles are actually currently favored to win the Super Bowl over Kansas City.
The Philadelphia Eagles were +550 to win the Super Bowl prior to their 38-7 demolition job of the New York Giants. The line then got sliced down to +330. After today’s results, the Eagles are now 1-point favorites against the Chiefs, and have a moneyline of -110 in what is currently being priced as a pick’em.
There’s only one more game standing between the Eagles and a second Super Bowl ring in six season seasons.
The Eagles have a high-octane offense and a defense that is beginning to find its identity under Jonathan Gannon. Lane Johnson has played like a cyborg, Jalen Hurts has thrived under center all season long, and the team has beaten everyone in their path. The Eagles are well-positioned to win the Super Bowl and with the most passionate fanbase on the planet right behind them, who’s to say they can’t win it all?
