The Philadelphia Eagles secured a first-round bye and homefield advantage throughout the NFL playoffs with a win over the New York Giants on Sunday. But what has it done to their Super Bowl chances?

The Eagles and the road to the Super Bowl

The Kansas City Chiefs are now slight favorites to win the Super Bowl following their 31-13 demolition of the Las Vegas Raiders. Week 18 did provide us with some surprises, but the Bills, Niners, Eagles, and Bengals all took care of business.

It is surprising to see the Niners now favored over the Eagles. They have to beat the Seahawks in the wildcard round, which shouldn’t be too much of a chore, but even then, they have to go through a second opponent (Vikings or Giants) before facing either the Eagles, Cowboys, or Bucs.

Brock Purdy has been great this season and the Niners do have two wins over the Seahawks already, but rookie QB’s tend to struggle in the postseason and that may just give Seattle a glimmer of hope.

The Eagles have a high-octane offense and a defense that is beginning to find its identity under Jonathan Gannon. They should also get Lane Johnson back for the postseason. Jalen Hurts is under center again and even Chauncey Gardner-Johnson is back in the mix. The Eagles are well-positioned to win the NFC Championship and will have some extra rest, unlike the Niners.

Is it time to don the underdog masks once more? Maybe.
