NFL Coach of the Year Odds: How does Nick Sirianni fare after week 17?
Nick Sirianni’s Philadelphia Eagles have lost their sparkle in recent weeks. Two sloppy losses against the Cowboys and Saints (without Jalen Hurts) have pushed the team into a must-win spot this week. However, despite the Eagles possibly slipping down to the #5 seed this weekend with a loss to the Giants, Vegas is still bullish on the second-year Head Coach.

NFL Coach of the Year Odds: Nick Sirianni is still the favorite
The landscape has changed drastically through the month of November. Brian Daboll has soared up to third place having led the Giants to a 9-6 record and their first playoff berth since 2016. In second, Kyle Shanahan has earned his stripes. His work with Brock Purdy has been excellent and it’s scary to think what this Niners would look like had Trey Lance not gotten injured.
In Nick Sirianni’s defense, he is the Head Coach of the current best team in football and has coached Jalen Hurts to an entirely new level. His ability to galvanize a locker room and bend his philosophies to the strengths of his players have been huge catalysts in Philadelphia’s seismic season. His humility to recognize weaknesses and turn playcalling duties over to his offensive coordinator have played a role just as important.
The 2022 Philadelphia Eagles are proving that week in and week out, they are indeed worthy of all the praise…or at least they were. If they fall at the final hurdle and lose to the New York Giants, we may well see Shanahan take the honors here, although all of the top-3 candidates are beyond deserving. A ship is only as good as its Captain, and Nick Sirianni is a master at sailing troubled seas.
