England vs France

The World Cup Quarter Finals are upon us. England and France will clash in what promises to be an enthralling matchup. Can Harry Kane push his squad one step closer to something that has evaded the Three Lions since 1966, or will the defending champions have their way?

England vs France betting preview

England soared past Senegal in their round of 16 clash, while France, like England, fired 3 goals past their opponent. These two teams have a rich history but have not played in a competitive game since the 2012 EURO competition. The rivalry promises to be renewed in an explosive fashion.

England’s World Cup run has been met with two minds. Some are screaming ‘Football’s coming home‘ at the top of their lungs, while others are overly critical of Gareth Southgate. Whether it’s a lack of squad rotation, conservative tactics, or some disappointing tactical decisions, this is an England team filled with potential that just needs the right man to unlock it. Southgate took England to the EURO finals last year, but getting past France this weekend would easily be his biggest accomplishment yet.

Speaking of Les Bleus, they look borderline unstoppable. Kylian Mbappe has been nothing short of sensational this World Cup. He has 9 goals in 11 total World Cup appearances, and he has 5 to his name during his 2022 World Cup run, leading the entire competition. He will be more than a handful for Manchester City’s Kyle Walker to handle, but that’s just the start.

Their defense is unrelenting, with stars like Theo Hernandez and Raphael Varane headlining the back four. As if Mbappe wasn’t enough to worry about, former Arsenal man Olivier Giroud now leads France in all-time goals and has netted 3 times this World Cup.

If England are going to win this game, they have to keep France off the ball. Sitting back with a 3-man back line just isn’t going to cut it. They have to play with confidence and let players like Jude Bellingham and Mason Mount play free-flowing football. Any attempt to sit on their heels and wait for the counter is just inviting a world of trouble.

England vs France betting pick

Both Teams to Score at -125 feels like the safest play here. England have kept a clean sheet in 3 straight games, but they’re yet to face a team as dangerous as France. I think both teams should comfortably find the net in this matchup, although it may take extra time to find a winner.
