Japan vs Croatia betting preview

Japan’s World Cup fairytale has turned a new page and the nation will be intent on making sure this chapter is even more exciting than last. A shock win over Germany secured their place in the knockouts, while Croatia have only conceded one goal in this competition and were able to eliminate Belgium, who many once considered to be a favorite.

Japan have defied the odds once, but they’ll now have to do it again. Croatia are riding a nine-game unbeaten run through all competitions and their defensive efforts this tournament have been nothing short of dominant.

We could see a change up top for Croatia, as Livaja and Karamic have struggled to produce much of anything alongside Ivan Perisic. Someone like Mislav Orsic, who has 2 goals in 6 UCL games for Dinamo Zagreb, could be a viable option to get some extra minutes.

Japan vs Croatia betting pick

Ultimately, this comes down to whether or not Japan has enough of an attacking spark to score multiple goals against this defense. The answer is probably an unfortunate ‘no’, and as a result, I’ll be backing the ‘under 2.5 goals’ market here.
