An 8-6 loss was tough to take on Friday night, but things may only get worse as the weekend progresses for the Phils, who are back at it again against the Mets.

Adding to the woes we see on the field, the Phillies have recently been called out for unfair treatment to their minor league players. It remains to be seen whether this sudden negative spotlight is going to impact the team, but it definitely isn’t going to help.

Starting a minor league picture was a decision that failed to pay dividends on Friday. The Phillies dropped to a 7-0 deficit after just four innings and left it all for the offense to do. Despite a strong response from an offense that’s just as explosive, it just wasn’t to be.

Pitching matchup

Zach Eflin (1-3, 3.65 ERA) vs (Taijuan Walker (2-0, 2.70 ERA)

If the Phillies can get the Zach Eflin they saw on Sunday against the Dodgers for the rest of the season, look out. Eflin was downright filthy against LA and struck out a career-high 12 batters. Outside of two solo home runs, Eflin silences one of the best lineups in baseball. While Zach did not get credit for the win, there is no shot the Phillies win that game without his performance on Sunday. The Phils could use a similar performance on Saturday when he goes toe to toe with Taijuan Walker.
