After weeks of unsettlement, the Eagles are back off their bye and ready to hit the ground running, literally. If there’s one man who has been pivotal in helping the Birds’ establish the run, it’s Brandon Brooks.

The franchise right guard arrived in Philadelphia back in March of 2016, signing a five-year deal worth $40M. After four years of elite play, the Eagles have opted to reward their mauling offensive lineman with a $54.2M contract extension, $30M of which is guaranteed.

Brooks has been on another level this season, which in itself is staggering. It’s scary to think that he spent the entire offseason rehabbing a torn Achilles injury that was originally expected to keep him out for several games. He missed zero and has been playing better than he ever has before.

Then, there’s his battle with anxiety – something that he’s been very open about. Brooks has overcome that setback and gone on to become one of the team’s most valuable players in yet another inspiring way.

According to Pro Football Focus, he’s the best guard in Football this year, earning a whopping 93.4 grade through the team’s opening nine games. He’s now also the highest-paid guard in professional football.

There’s nothing to dislike about this move…at all. Brooks has been nothing short of a class act and someone that has single-handedly inspired everyone around him and the entire City of Brotherly Love. Comeback player of the year candidate? Absolutely. Deserving of a new contract? Definitely. And now, he’s a fixture in this Eagles offensive line for years to come.
