Eagles have the chance to take control of the division: State of the NFC East

USATSI_13511253_168382939_lowres

Week 6 was a blunder for the most part. The Eagles got blown out by a huge aerial attack from Kirk Cousins, yeah, that guy! Face in palm moment! Luckily, and I mean luckily, the Jets handled their business against the Cowboys, setting up a huge week 7 matchup with the Eagles and Cowboys.

Outside of that, the Redskins finally won! They’re officially not the worst team in the league. Danny Dimes and the Giants took a step back in a blowout loss but it wasn’t without some good moments. I’ll let you digest all of that but as for now, here’s your week 7 guide on the State of the NFC East:

Philadelphia Eagles

2019 Record: 3-3

2019 RANKS:

• Offense: 9th

• Defense: 23rd

• Passing offense: 16th

• Rushing offense: 15th

Key players of Week 6:

• Carson Wentz – 26/40, 306 yards, 2 TDs, 1 INT

• Miles Sanders – 3 receptions, 86 yards, 1 TD

Key injuries: WR DeSean Jackson is out still with an abdominal strain, CB Avonte Maddox is out with a neck strain.

Week 7 vs Dallas Cowboys @ 8:30pm ET

The Eagles lost a huge game to the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday by a margin of 38-20. That was the second-most points scored against the Eagles in the Doug Pederson era. It was a crushing defeat nonetheless.

Now, they head to Dallas where first place is on the line and you can consider this a must-win game. The Eagles may need this game more than they need air right now.

Wentz has looked pretty damn good this season but the offensive talent around him has been limited. He may look to continue to ride Miles Sanders as his deep threat if DeSean Jackson doesn’t suit up. Alshon has been the most reliable receiver for Wentz so far this year, but even that statement overlooks some individual struggles he’s had.

On defense, we all know the story. An elite run defense is balanced with an atrocious run defense. The blueprint to beat this team is out there for the world to see, but will Schwartz finally adapt?

The Eagles need this win to stop their season from spiraling out of control, let’s see how the team responds to a division rival.

Washington Redskins

2019 Record: 1-5

2019 Ranks:

• Offense: 30th

• Defense: 28th

• Passing offense: 26th

• Rushing offense: 25th

Key players of Week 6:

• Adrian Peterson – 23 carries, 118 yards

• Terry McLaurin – 4 receptions, 100 yards, 2 TDs

Week 7 vs San Francisco 49ers @ 1PM ET

They finally won! One game after firing their previous head coach the Redskins came out and beat the……Dolphins. OK, I mean a win is a win, right? It also looks like they rode AP and Terry McLaurin all day so there’s some Fantasy relevance there!

Anyways, they’re going into week 7 to take on one of the league’s top defenses in the 49ers. Can the Redskins make it two in a row? or will Jimmy G rain on their parade?

Bring your umbrellas…

Dallas Cowboys

2019 Record: 3-3

2019 RANKS:

• Offense: 10th

• Defense: 8th

• Passing offense: 3rd

• Rushing offense: 7th

Key players of Week 5:

• Ezekiel Elliott – 28 carries, 105 yards, 1 TD

Week 7 vs Philadelphia Eagles @ 8:30pm ET

So as much as the Cowboys losing to the Jets should be a punchline joke for me this week, I can’t risk it. The Cowboys have lost three straight after winning three straight and now they face another team that’s just as hungry for a win.

This game has huge playoff implications and the winner of it may ride their win streak through the next several games. Both teams are banged up on injuries but both QB’s are fully healthy.

Who’s ready for Dak vs Wentz chapter VI?

New York Giants

2019 Record: 2-4

2019 Ranks:

• Offense: 24th

• Defense: 27th

• Passing offense: 18th

• Rushing offense: 18th

Key players of Week 6:

• Daniel Jones – 15/31, 161 yards, 1 TD, 3 INTs

• Golden Tate – 6 receptions, 102 yards, 1 TD

Week 7 vs Arizona Cardinals @ 1pm ET

Well, it was always going to happen. ‘Danny Dimes’ hit the reality wall against the league’s top defense. He threw for 3 picks in the game but it wasn’t without some highlights. It looked like Danny and Golden finally showed off their chemistry.

Tate looked like the “Lions Tate” and not the Eagles one. Sorry, I’m still a bit bitter about him.

Anyways, this should be a good matchup against the Cards for the battle of the top Rookie QBs but other than that, both teams seem to be just grinding through the season, getting ready for next year!
