How about them Philadelphia Flyers? The proud orange-clad fans are beginning to rejoice with the sounds of hockey around the corner. Well, let’s give these proud fans more to cheer about.

Newly crowned General Manager Chuck Fletcher wanted to keep his young up and coming stars intact with the orange and black for years to come. He stayed true to his promise, as the Flyers officially announced the re-signing of Travis Konecny today for another six years ($5.5 million AAV).

Konecny does a little bit of everything, and he does it well. He will chip in on the power play, lay a big hit, block shots, and most of all do anything to help the team win. He blasted 24 goals and chipped in 23 assists for a career-high 47 points in 2017-18. Moreover, for the 2018-19 season, Konecny potted 24 goals, registered 25 assists, issued out 65 hits, and blocked 45 shots. Simply put, Konecny did it all, as he’s learning the game the right way.

His stats show he’s lethal, but it’s intriguing to know that Konecny will play on either wing, which really shows his versatility. Konecny has filthy hands and has learned to play a really smart game. He wanted to shake the rust off after a coaching change, and also with a new General Manager…and boy did he ever do it. Konecny found a new attitude, and it appeared to rub off on his teammates.

Konecny is becoming a rising star in Philadelphia. His heart and soul has won over the proud orange-clad fans of Philadelphia. It’s great to see just how hard this young man works on a nightly basis. Konecny’s unselfish play will win over the new coaching staff, and he should be rewarded with an expanded role. Remember Flyers fans, the future is bright in Flyer land.
