Philadelphia: After being off for 2 weeks, the Philadelphia Wings got back to game action on Friday night as they took on Buffalo Bandits from the Wells Fargo Center in South Philadelphia. This would be the 3rd time the Wings would be playing Buffalo this season, Wings lost the previous 2 games including the December 15 game as Buffalo would ruin the Wings home opener in their first game back in the league.
The Wings would get Frank Brown back in the lineup after being out with an injury.
The Wings would open the scoring by Kiel Matisz for the 1-0 lead. Buffalo would score the next 2 for a 2-1 lead. The Big Cat Kevin Crowley would tie the game at 2 and that would be the score at end of 1st quarter.
In the 2nd quarter, the Wings would explode for 4 straight goals from Matt Rambo, Blaze Riorden, Anthony Joaquim & Justin Guterding for the 6-2 lead, the Bandits would end the scoring run with 2 goals as the wings took a 6-4 lead into halftime.
We had a lot of action in the third quarter, the Bandits would score 4 goals and cut the Wings lead on three separate times with the last being 9-8 with 9:01 left in the 3rd quarter. The Wings would add goals from Kevin Crowley, Josh Currier, and 2 from Frank Brown as the Wings took an 11-8 lead into the 4th quarter.
Buffalo would tie the game at 11 with 1:07 left and this game would head to overtime. The Bandits would score the game-winner by Chase Fraser. This game will haunt the Wings for a while, they came out looking good for being off for 2 weeks and they just need to finish their opportunities.
Wings goalie Doug Buchan made some big games in the game, he would make 54 saves on 66 shots.
The Wings now head on the road for a battle with San Diego on March 16 at 10 PM, they will return home on March 23 vs New England.
