Game recap: Drexel Dragons torch James Madison in crucial conference matchup

Philadelphia: In conference play, anything can happen and that is what we had on Saturday Afternoon as the Drexel Dragons took on James Madison Dukes from the Daskalakis Athletic Center on the campus of Drexel University. Drexel comes into the game with 9-11, 3-4 in CAA and off a win over Towson on January 17 while the Dukes head into battle with Dragons with 9-10,2-4 in CAA and off a loss to Delaware also on January 17. Drexel would not have Kurk Lee in the lineup as he is out with right shoulder injury he suffered in the win vs Towson.

Drexel wins the tip to start the game and they would score right away with 2 at the foul line by Alihan Demir, James Madison gets on the board on a basket from Dwight Wilson. The Dukes would jump all over the dragons as they would have a 20-7 lead with 13:09 left. Drexel Troy Harper would make an amazing play as he would get fouled scoring the basket

The Dragons would go on a run as they got the lead down to 3 at 31-28 with 3:18 left in the half. The game would be tied at 31 with 1:54 left. Drexel takes the lead on Troy Harper basket with 1:28 left. James Madison could not make their foul shots as they are 0-6. Drexel took 33-31 lead into halftime.

In the second half, Drexel would keep the pressure on the Duke. Troy Harper would have another highlight play

Drexel would take a 51-45 lead with 11:01 left. The Dukes would try to keep this game close but the defense on the dragons would just make things difficult. Dragons begin to pull away as they would have a 12 point lead at 65-53 with 3:38 left. You have to like the fight in the Dragons, at one point in this game they were down 18 in the first half and they come back and take down James Madison 73-68.

Drexel now goes to 10-11, 4-4 in CAA and will now head to battle with Delaware on January 26 while the Dukes are  9-11, 2-5 in CAA will take on Hofstra on January 24.
