The Eagles have released their second injury report of the week ahead of their week six clash with the Carolina Panthers. There are some interesting updates after Tuesday’s walkthrough and while maybe not indicative of who will and won’t be active on gameday, they’re worth paying attention to.

Lane Johnson is still in concussion protocol meaning that his chances of playing on Thursday are extremely limited. Doug Pederson pointed toward Halapoulivaati Vaitai making the start in his place, with Isaac Seumalo being the emergency backup behind him.

Wendell Smallwood has missed practice completely again with the undisclosed knee injury. Again, details are scarce at this stage which is a little concerning. The Eagles felt no haste to fill that spot last week, relying on Blount, Clement and Barner, who in turn put up an impressive effort of 111 yards on the ground. If they did want some extra spice in the passing game, another former Oregon Duck in Byron Marshall sits on the practice squad.

The three players limited in practice today do raise a slight eyebrow. Beau Allen has been a vital cog in helping the Eagles pass rush maintain its dominance without Fletcher Cox, so a limited practice on Tuesday due to a foot injury is a little concerning. Destiny Vaeao was limited once again and joins Chris Long, but if all three players missed the game in a worst case scenario, the Eagles front four will be down to just Elijah Qualls and Justin Hamilton at DT.

On the contrary, Fletcher Cox was a full participant in practice today. It’s not yet known whether or not Cox will travel with the team to Carolina, but returning to practice in full capacity is big step forward for the franchise defensive tackle.
