Unfortunately, Fletcher Cox will indeed miss the game as expected. The franchise defensive tackle will miss his second consecutive game due to a calf injury. The good news is that Timmy Jernigan was a full participant in practice once again, while Destiny Vaeao has been limited all week. The hole left by the “Man-Dog’ isn’t as big as it was last week…but the Birds’ may be forced to tap into their depth once again.
Wendell Smallwood will be a gameday decision for the Eagles, meaning that we could see a healthy dose of Corey Clement on Sunday. The Birds’ do have Kenjon Barner as their third running back who saw action as a returner last week, but if they want a back who can catch out of the backfield, they may be forced to call up Byron Marshall from the practice squad. Who would get cut however is another debate entirely and one without much room left to unfold.
In the secondary, both Corey Graham and Jaylen Watkins are listed as questionable, while Rodney McLeod’s road to redemption continues.
The injury bug may finally be removing its claws from the Eagles franchise…but the team still have some battles left to win.
