According to a report from Yahoo’s Charles Robinson, the Eagles have already parted ways with wide receivers coach, Greg Lewis.

Lewis was hired back in January of last year after the signing of Doug Pederson, making him part of the “handpicked” staff to help him build the roster. However things didn’t go swimmingly for the former wideout.

His group of six total players ended the year with just 1,839 yards. Drops, penalties and inconsistencies plagued the unit as they had a year before..and it’s clear that the unit needs a makeover. Given the Eagles recent decision to block the Jets approaching John DeFillippo however, it’s interesting how they have taken abrupt action at the other end of the scale.

Carson Wentz simply needs a wide receiver corps that can help him, lifting the pressure off the shoulders of the franchise quarterback and giving him a chance to succeed. The Eagles relied heavily on Zach Ertz and Trey Burton once Jordan Matthews had fallen injured, largely because of a severe lack of production outside.

Players spoke highly of Lewis as a coach, but the Eagles are keen to start the year as they mean to go on..by paying serious attention to areas of need, and making the tough decisions that they believe will help fix those problems.
