The Philadelphia Eagles rookie quarterback, Carson Wentz, has been drawing great reviews by many people involved in the national football league. The latest person to talk about how impressed he is with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2016 NFL draft – no other than Hall of Fame quarterback Brett Favre.

Favre appeared on SiriusXM radio on Tuesday offering his praise for the quarerback out of North Dakota State University.

“Pretty impressed,” Favre said. “I thought he handled himself the last two weeks with a lot of poise. … He (and not Jay Cutler) looked like the 10-year veteran.

“I think Philly is still without committing a turnover. And going into Chicago, whether Chicago is playing great or not so great, is a tough place to play, especially for a young kid. But I thought he handled himself extremely well. I’m impressed with him. “

Favre knows the quarterback position as well as anyone and his comments shouldn’t be taken lightly. Favre was among the group inducted into the 2016 Hall of Fame after 20 marvelous seasons in the NFL.

Favre knows all too well what it’s like to come from a small school and finding success in the NFL, so him believing in Wentz is a great sign for the young quarterback’s future.

Favre attended the University of Southern Mississippi, which was a small known program during his tenure. He was selected in the second-round of the 1991 draft, spending his rookie season with the Atlanta Falcons. The Falcons traded him after the 1991 season to the Green Bay Packers, and the rest is history.

Favre threw for 71,838 passing yards and 508 touchdowns with a completion percentage of 62.0. Eagles head coach, Doug Pederson, was Favre’s backup for seven seasons (1996-1998 and 2001-2004). Pederson has compared Wentz to Favre during some of his press conferences discussing the quarterback, and would have the ultimate inside scoop to that comparison.

“I’m a little biased to Doug because he and I are really good friends and we go way back,” Favre said. “He was a teammate and a great friend of mine for a long time and still is, so I am a little biased, but I have to admit, the play-calling and design — and [Jon] Gruden touched on that last night — I thought was really good and it also fit what Carson does well.”

Wentz has completed 43 passes on 71 passing attempts for a 61.0 completion percentage. He’s thrown for 468 passing yards, three touchdowns, and zero turnovers.

Wentz’s play continues to impress big figures in the NFL. He’s come a long way from being one of the most questionable draft prospects, to a legitimate starting quarterback in the NFL. He’s playing the part of a franchise quarterback and Philadelphia looks to have finally address their biggest issue they’ve struggled with since trading Donovan McNabb in 2010 – finding a long-term solution at quarterback.
