With Lane Johnson likely serving a 10-game suspension due to his second PED violation, the Eagles seem intent on adding some depth to the position.
According to an anonymous source, the Eagles have reached out to former Giants Offensive Tackle Will Beatty. The talks are said to be just that however, with both sides still evaluating their options, but the intent is there. The Eagles are looking to add an insurance policy in the circumstance that Johnson is suspended and are looking for the right avenue to do so. Trading could also be an option for the Eagles and one that has been at least considered, source said.
This isn’t the first time that the Eagles have been mentioned in “Trade talks”. The birds were also said to be looking for a Linebacker via trade per Jason La Confora.
Several teams calling around looking for TEs. Eagles have been trying to find an inside LB via trade. Things will intensify in few weeks

The Beatty information was posted publicly first by Tom Rock of Newsday sports on Twitter.
Also, Philly has reached out to Beatty as well as they await a decision on Lane Johnson appeal. No workout there yet.

Beatty is considering his options elsewhere after a recent workout with the Jags, accord
The 31 year old missed the entire 2015 season following a torn pectoral injury he sustained in the spring. In 2014, Beatty was regarded as a solid lineman who prior to the injury, started 47 of 48 games since his arrival in the Meadowlands in 2012.
In terms of Free agent linemen, he’s probably the best option available to the Eagles. Beatty was reluctant to sign a deal despite being reached out to by the Broncos and Raiders until his pectoral had fully healed..a risky move, but the market is still there.
Other than Beatty, Jake Long would probably be the only other viable option. The former first overall pick who’s career has been hampered with injuries.
