As the Eagles Quarterback plot grows ever thicker, the rumors grow with it. Today, NFL Insider Ian Rapoport claimed the following;

This is interesting as it comes just moments before an NFL Network report that suggests that Daniel could be one of the front runners in the race for the Eagles number two quarterback. However, the report is hardly surprising. Back in January Doug Pederson spoke with CSNPhilly and stated;

“He was great for Alex. Great thinker, good mind, good arm, accurate passer, tough kid, another one that’s a little more athletic and runs better than you think.”

By “great for Alex” that could also imply that Pederson views him as great for whoever the starter is going to be next season. It’s no secret that the former Chiefs Offensive Coordinator is hot on Daniel, but would he be hot enough to pursue him in Free Agency? If he is, what role will Daniel undertake?

The impending free agent has thrown just 68 passes under Doug Pederson and Andy Reid during his time at Kansas and has started just two games. During his career he has sat behind both Drew Brees and Alex Smith however which could prove to be a valuable asset. But it’s his history with Pederson could well be his saving grace if he is to venture into free agency.

“I think he has a bright future and could be a starter in this league,”

It’s also important to remember that the Chiefs already have both Aaron Murray and Tyler Bray on their roster who could replace Daniel in an instant, making his future in Kansas seem murky at best.

One theory is that the Eagles will draft a Quarterback or find one in free agency to sign as their backup so Pederson can groom him as he has consistently told the media he wishes to do. In doing this, it gives the birds a bridge Quarterback, be it Bradford or someone else and time for the rookie to earn his stripes under a very QB friendly coaching core and an experienced starter..but could that starter become Chase Daniel..or could he become the project Quarterback Pederson wants?
