We knew on Saturday that the Vikings had hired former Eagles Offensive Coordinator and interim Head Coach Pat Shurmur, but we didn’t know what role he would take over with the only available job at the time being that of a running back coach. Well, we have confirmation now that Shurmur will in fact become the Viking’s Tight-Ends Coach.

Kevin Stefanski, the teams former Tight-Ends Coach will become the teams new running back coach to make way for Shurmur.  Some speculated that the team would create a new role for Shurmur so that he can aid in the passing game but the result was quite surprising.

The 50 year old interviewed for the position of Eagles Head Coach after Chip Kelly’s departure and despite Kelly’s replacement Doug Pederson showing interest in keeping Shurmur around, he instead hired Frank Reich who he seemed to be keen on from the start.

It’s nice to see Shurmur get another NFL job so soon and without much trouble, he had an interview request from the Rams but it was the Vikings who he visited first..and the Vikings who he will be working with next season.
