Eagles release linebacker and resign Offensive Lineman

By this point, it’s almost no surprise that when the Philadelphia Eagles release a player, Julian Vandervelde gets re-signed by the team. Vandervelde has been signed by the Eagles six times now and the latest signing comes at the expense of linebacker Brad Jones.

Josh Andrews, the backup Center reportedly suffered a concussion on Wednesday leaving him sidelined for Sunday’s showdown against the Dolphins. So the Eagles went to ol’ reliable “Batman” Vandervelde.

Brad Jones took the fall for the signing to come to fruition and the veteran linebacker who was signed by the Eagles this off-season now sees himself listed as a free agent. After being released by the Packers, he joined the Eagles earlier this year and has played mainly in special teams. However Jones was actually listed as a healthy scratch in week 9, perhaps implying his value to the team had dropped.
