In what is surely going to become the most controversial decision of the season, it appears that Chip Kelly has no intention of releasing kicker Caleb Sturgis.
Chip: We're going to stay with Caleb Sturgis. We didn't see anything out there. State of kicking in the #NFL isn't good right now. #Eagles

Chip Kelly: on kicker … We are going to stay with Caleb Sturgis.. We feel in terms of what's out there we will stay with Caleb

Chip Kelly met the media following the loss to Washington and said that “we’re sticking with Sturgis”.
Whilst Chip is right in saying that kicking has suffered a major blow in standards this week, Sturgis missed a field goal and a PAT which in total cost the team four points. Whilst still bad, the kicker may not be coming under as much fire if the team hadn’t lost by three points…
In Miami, Sturgis converted just 77% of his field goals, almost missing one in every four. But according to Chip Kelly, he was marginally better than the rest of the kickers that worked out with the team last week.
One fan summed up the reaction of Eagles fans across the world upon hearing the news..
