Andrew MacDonald placed on waivers

With the new season just around the corner, Ron Hextall announced earlier today that he has placed defenseman Andrew MacDonald on waivers and will be no longer a part of the Flyers roster as of noon.

After a huge $30million contract that was signed last year, MacDonald has been hugely disappointing. The move means that both Scott Laughton and Brandon Manning have sealed their spot on the roster. Radko Gudas and Luke Schenn have also solidified their spots on the team. The 6th round pick from the 2006 draft hits the waivers with his $5million salary but the Flyers will only save $950,000 from their salary cap.

The Flyers will drop the puck on their new season this Thursday when they face Tampa.
