Gerald Wallace signs with Sixers in exchange for Jason Thompson

The Sixers are at it again, trading Jason Thompson to Golden State in exchange for 33 year old veteran Gerald Wallace. But that’s not all..

Why would the Sixers trade for a a 14-year veteran? Well, when that trade comes with some cash AND draft considerations..it’s easier to see why. Hinkie adds an NBA vet who has played in over 800 games to help tutor the youngsters whilst building for the future with potentially another draft pick!

Wallace was the 25th overall pick in the 2001 NBA Draft, and has since been named in the Eastern Conference All-Star Team.

Importantly for the Sixers, Wallace ended seasons inside the Top 10 for Steals Per Game five times whilst Steal Percentage four times.

He has career averages of 11.9 points, 5.8 rebounds, 2.1 assists, 1.44 steals through his 14 year career. His decorative career has seen him span seasons with numerous teams as a journeyman and is a relatively cheap acquisition for Philly.

The Sixers have traded Jason Thompson however, the 29 year old power forward averages 9.4 points, 6.9 rebounds and 1.1 assists in over 500 games and 400 starts.
