Tonight marked the finale of The Philadelphia 76ers’ summer-league, and with it a lot of expectations to end it on a high. The game was filled with action and in the end the Sixers came away with the win, beating the Houston Rockets 100-96. The team end the league on a 2-6 record.
However, the lineup was vastly different to that fielded in the Utah games. 3rd overall draft pick Jahlil Okafor was rested, meaning he had only competed in two games during the trip. He’d missed a previous game to attend the ESPY’S on Wednesday.
JaKarr Sampson was the man who picked up where Okafor left off. The forward now in his second year shot for 24..yes 24 points and went 9 for 16 overall. He made 4 three pointers out of seven whilst picking up six boards. The game came as a huge surprise for Sixers fans but a very pleasant one indeed.
Vince Hunter also put work in, finishing with 23 points and eleven rebounds.
Despite there being constant lead changes in the opening two quarters, The Sixers were dominant in the second half, having so much as a 12 point lead at one stage during the fourth.
Oh, and J.P Tokoto kind of took off into orbit as well.
The second round pick looked far more comfortable tonight than in any of his previous games and it was evident. He went on a fantastic run at one stage and ended on some impressive numbers..could it be a sign of things to come?
That’s all the Sixers action on the court until October, but be sure to follow @PhiladelphiaSN for all of the latest Sixers news
