Shock as Phillies release Outfielder

The Phillies announced earlier today that the team has officially released outfielder Grady Sizemore. The surprise move comes just days after Sizemore was designated for assignment to allow for the call-up of Cody Asche.

The outfielder appeared in 39 games Phillies season, hitting.245 and racking up five doubles with six RBIs.

Despite him being able to play both corner outfield spots for the Phillies, his time in the lineup would have been cut considerably since Cody Asche’s recent switch from third base to a move into left field. If he wasn’t released..he would be benched for a huge chunk of this season.
