Chase Utley finally made his much anticipated 2015 debut at Bright House Field and it was like he’d never been away. Utley singled leading off the fourth inning before Ryan Howard followed with a home run, his first of the year, to drive the Phils a 2-1 victory over Tampa Bay.
Utley, now 36 is in the final year of a two-year valued at $25 million.
Having missed the 2011 and 2012 spring training programs due to a knee injury, it’s great to see Chase Utley back in pre season action. Last season, the veteran second baseman played in 155 games, his most since 2009. He finished with a batting average of below 0.3 and 11 home runs.
