Shutout win for Phillies as Harang makes debut

Andres Blanco was the only man to score a run as he hit a homer to lead the Phillies to a 1-0 win over the Orioles on Monday as Aaron Harang makes his belated debut as a pitcher.

Harang pitched two scoreless innings in his Grapefruit League debut after missing his expected first start last week due to tight lower back issues. These are said to have diminished and he’s now ready to start.

Blanco broke the deadlock about half way through the game, homering off  Brian Matusz in the top of the fifth inning for his first Grapefruit League blast. Matusz only allowed two hits in as many innings, it just so happened that one of those two ended up being the game winning homer.

Phillies right-hander Miguel Alfredo Gonzalez will start on Tuesday against the Tigers at Bright House Field when the team are next in action.
