The Philadelphia Eagles added versatile defensive weapons in linebacker Jihaad Campbell and safety Andrew Mukuba with their first two picks in the 2025 NFL Draft. After sticking and picking in the second round, Eagles general manager Howie Roseman made two trades in the third round. First, the Eagles sent their 2025 third-round pick (96) to the Atlanta Falcons for their 2025 third-round pick (101) and a 2026 fifth-round pick.

While Philadelphia waited to make their next selection with the newly-acquired 101st overall pick, disaster struck. The Las Vegas Raiders selected William & Mary offensive lineman Charles Grant with the 99th overall pick. Grant was a player that met multiple times with the Eagles during the pre-draft process, including a top-30 visit to the City of Brotherly Love. Grant was viewed by many as the ideal candidate to enroll as the next student at Stoutland University, yet he was suddenly off the board for the Eagles.
Although we’ll never know if Grant was Philadelphia’s target or not, Roseman’s next move was pretty telling. Once the Eagles were on the clock with the 101st overall pick, they made another trade! The Eagles sent their 2025 third-round pick (101) and 2025 fourth-round pick (134) to the Denver Broncos for two of their 2025 fourth-round picks (111, 130) and a 2025 sixth-round pick (191).
In total, the Eagles essentially gained several assets by moving back from the 96th overall pick to the 111th overall pick. By doing so, Philadelphia was able to move up four spots in the fourth round, while also adding a 2025 sixth-round pick (191) and a 2026 sixth-round pick. That’s quite an impressive haul for only moving back a total of 15 spots.

While Eagles’ fans are likely underwhelmed by the team’s lack of a third-round pick, the draft board certainly didn’t fall favorably for Philadelphia on the second night of the 2025 NFL Draft. A total of 14 players that the Eagles reportedly hosted on pre-draft visits were selected on day two. It’s especially notable given how these visits have been clear indicators of Philadelphia’s interest in selecting prospects in both the 2023 NFL Draft and the 2024 NFL Draft.
Maybe Roseman switched up his utilization of these limited visits as the rest of the NFL was catching on with Philadelphia’s seemingly obvious plans. Although it could also be that the Eagles got incredibly unlucky on day two of the 2025 NFL Draft and were ultimately forced to reach for a safety like Mukuba before completely trading out of the third round entirely. We’ll see if the Eagles are able to land any of the 10 remaining players that reportedly visited Philadelphia during the pre-draft process on day three.
Following day two of the 2025 NFL Draft, the Eagles currently have six draft picks to work with on day three. Although it’s a near certainty that Roseman will continue to wheel and deal as he maneuvers around the draft board. Philadelphia currently holds two fourth-round picks (111, 130), three fifth-round picks (161, 165, 168) and a sixth-round pick (191). Following a rather underwhelming performance on day two, it’s time for Roseman to pull out some of his tricks that Eagles’ fans have become accustomed to seeing in Philadelphia on day three!
